DEVELOPING THE CONCEPT

After establishing the visual direction and genre of my magazine, I focused on defining a clear concept for my issue.

Since my magazine is centred around luxury automotive design, I needed a concept that reflects both the exclusivity of the cars and the emotional value behind them.

Instead of choosing a broad or abstract theme, I decided to focus on the idea of timelessness, particularly how certain cars go beyond trends and remain relevant through design, engineering and cultural significance.

BRAINSTORMING PROCESS

To develop this idea, I explored multiple directions, such as:

  • modern performance cars

  • classic Ferrari models

  • future collectible vehicles

  • the connection between design and engineering

However, I realised that many of these ideas were too narrow or too focused on a single category. I wanted my magazine to feel more cohesive and refined, rather than limited to one type of car.

As a result, I shifted my focus towards a broader but more meaningful concept:

cars that can be seen as artworks and historical objects, not just machines.

FINAL CONCEPT – TIMELESS AUTOMOTIVE DESIGN

From this process, I developed the final concept of my issue, which is centred around timeless automotive design.

This allows me to include both:

  • classic cars, which have already proven their value over time

  • modern limited-production models, which have the potential to become future icons

This concept also fits naturally with the idea of a collector-focused magazine, where the emphasis is not on speed or performance alone, but on design, rarity and long-term significance.

PERSONAL APPROACH

For me, cars are not just vehicles, they are art and pieces of history that express emotions.

This perspective strongly influenced my concept, as I want the magazine to reflect more than just technical information. Instead, I aim to present each car in a way that highlights:

  • its design

  • its story

  • the feeling it creates

This approach makes the magazine more personal and expressive, while still maintaining a premium and structured style.

HOW THIS WILL INFLUENCE MY MAGAZINE

This concept will guide all the decisions in my production.

In terms of content and layout, I will:

  • focus more on visual impact rather than long text

  • use images to communicate the identity of each car

  • keep the structure clean and balanced, without unnecessary elements

Choosing a balanced approach between image and text allows the magazine to remain informative, while still maintaining a minimal and luxury aesthetic.

REFLECTION

Overall, developing this concept helped me move from a general idea about cars to a more refined and intentional direction.

Instead of creating a typical automotive magazine, I am aiming to produce something that feels more like a curated collection, where each page contributes to the overall identity of the magazine.

This ensures consistency between my research, visual style and final product.

RISK ASSESSMENT

When planning my photoshoots, I had to consider several risks that could affect both the process and the final images, especially as I was working with high-end and collector cars in real locations. O
