BUDGET AND CALENDAR

The photos for this project were taken over approximately four different days during a family trip across Europe. I planned in advance to visit key locations such as the Ferrari Museum in Maranello and the Geneva Motor Show, as these were directly relevant to my concept of a luxury, automotive-focused magazine.

However, I also kept flexibility, as access to certain places was not always guaranteed. For example, I intended to visit the Prince’s Car Collection in Monaco, but it was closed when I arrived, which meant I had to adapt my plan and focus on other locations instead.

One of the main shooting days was at the Geneva Motor Show, although it was very crowded, which made it more difficult to take clean and controlled photos. This contrasts with the Ferrari Museum, where the environment was more controlled and suitable for more precise and minimal compositions.

Overall, the process was a mix of planning and adaptation, depending on each location.

How much?

The overall cost of this project was relatively controlled, as I combined the photoshoots with an existing trip rather than organising a separate production.

Main expenses included:

• Ferrari Museum ticket – €25

• Geneva Motor Show ticket – €20

• Food during shooting days – around €25–€35 per day

In terms of equipment, I used both my iPhone 15 Pro Max and my cousin’s Nikon camera. In some locations, professional cameras were not allowed, so I had to rely on my phone, while in others I was able to use the Nikon for higher-quality images.

Although there was no formal rental cost for the camera, I gave my cousin a Ferrari model car worth around €100 as a thank you for lending it to me.

Overall, the total cost of the project was approximately €180–€220.

Reflection

This process showed me that media production can be achieved without a very large budget, as long as existing opportunities are used effectively. It also highlighted how different shooting conditions can influence the final images.

For example, the controlled environment of the Ferrari Museum allowed for more detailed and clean compositions, while the crowded setting of the Geneva Motor Show required adapting to less ideal conditions and shooting from a distance.

Despite these limitations, I was able to gather over 100 usable images, which gave me enough material to create a consistent and visually strong magazine.

RISK ASSESSMENT

When planning my photoshoots, I had to consider several risks that could affect both the process and the final images, especially as I was working with high-end and collector cars in real locations. O
