Developing the Concept of My Magazine
When I first started thinking about the concept of my magazine, I knew that I wanted to create something that truly represents my personal interests. One of my biggest passions is cars, especially luxury and rare vehicles. I have always enjoyed photographing cars, particularly when I see something unique on the street or at car events. Cars such as Ferraris, Aston Martins, Bentleys, Porsche models, Rolls-Royce vehicles or other high-end luxury cars always capture my attention because of their design, history and prestige.
Because of this passion, creating a magazine about cars felt like the most natural idea for my project.
However, deciding exactly what type of car magazine I wanted to create was not as easy as I initially thought. During my research I looked at many well-known automotive magazines such as Top Gear, Classic & Sports Car, EVO Magazine, Octane Magazine and Car Magazine. These publications often focus on reviewing new cars, comparing performance, or discussing the latest automotive technology.
Although these magazines are very interesting and professionally designed, I felt that they did not completely match the atmosphere that I wanted to create for my own magazine.
The Moment That Inspired the Idea
While I was still trying to decide the exact direction of my magazine, something unexpected happened that helped me find the concept. One day, while I was at home, I noticed a Ferrari magazine that belonged to my father displayed on a shelf. I had probably seen it before, but I had never really paid attention to it.
Out of curiosity, I started flipping through the pages and looking closely at the photographs and the design. The magazine had a very elegant and classic style. The cars were presented almost like pieces of art, with large photographs, minimal but sophisticated text, and a very premium aesthetic.
At that moment I realised that this was the type of atmosphere I wanted to recreate in my own project.
Seeing that magazine made me understand that instead of creating a typical modern car magazine, I could design something inspired by retro luxury automotive publications, combined with the idea of classic car auctions.
This moment helped me finally clarify the direction of my project. I decided that my magazine would focus on prestigious and collectible cars presented in the style of a luxury auction catalogue, inspired by classic automotive magazines like the Ferrari publication I discovered at home.
Inspiration from Luxury Car Auctions
While continuing my research, I became increasingly interested in luxury car auctions. Events organised by auction houses such as RM Sotheby’s, Bonhams or Gooding & Company present some of the most rare and valuable cars in the world. These auctions include classic Ferraris, rare Porsche models, vintage Aston Martins, limited edition Lamborghinis, Bentleys and even extremely rare Rolls-Royce vehicles.
What fascinated me the most was the way these cars are presented. At these events, cars are not simply shown as transportation, but as works of art and historical objects. The cars are photographed and displayed in a very elegant way, often in luxurious locations with dramatic lighting that highlights their design and craftsmanship.
This made me realise that instead of creating a traditional car magazine, I could design something closer to a luxury car auction catalogue, but in magazine form.
Why Auctions Are Interesting to Me
Another reason why I found the idea of auctions interesting is because many car auctions also have a charity aspect. In some events, part of the money raised from the sale of a vehicle is donated to charities or non-profit organisations.
This idea really appealed to me because I personally enjoy being involved in my community and helping people when possible. I believe that luxury events can also have a positive impact when they support important causes.
Because of this, I started imagining a magazine where certain auctions featured in the publication could include charity donations, where a percentage of the sale price is given to different organisations or social causes.
This idea adds another dimension to the magazine. It is not only about luxury and expensive cars, but also about giving back and supporting the community.
Personal Connection to the Project
The goal is to create a magazine that feels exclusive, elegant and prestigious, similar to what someone might receive when attending a luxury car auction.
This project is meaningful to me because it combines several things that I enjoy: photographing cars, exploring luxury automotive culture and contributing to the community.
By designing my magazine as a luxury car auction catalogue, I can present cars not only as beautiful machines, but also as cultural objects with history and value.
At the same time, including the idea of charity auctions reflects my personal interest in supporting the community and helping others when possible.
